Does a black roof really make the house too hot?
Trying to decide on roof color!
I think we currently have the color that is just a tad lighter than the dark charcoal shingle.
Does black really heat up the house?
We have CAC so my house is usually cold!

Does a black roof really make the house too hot?
I cant IMAGINE a dark roof would make your house hot.
Have you seen homes with roofs that are not a dark color?

We have a black roof. Absolutely no difference from the light tan it was before we changed it.

The roof itself will definitely get hotter, just because of laws of physics and light, etc. Heat rises, so the hotter roof shouldn't make the attic, and the rest of the house noticeably hotter.

That never even crossed my mind. We went from brown to black, and I have not noticed a difference.

Ours did. We went from a light brown to a black roof (not my choice but gave in) it's much hotter. It actually set off our smoke detector. We had to put 2 fans in our attic.
