Does anybody worry about stress while being pg?
I have a really stressful job. I work in a nursing home and the department of health is coming very soon. Everybody is flipping out about documentation and just about everything else! There is also a lot of drama going on in my department and I am having a difficult time with a woman that I work with on my unit. Yesterday, I got REALLY stressed out...my heart was beating fast and I was so angry at this woman for something that she did. I just tried to keep telling myself "Calm down...this not good for the baby". After I was calm I started to worry...the next few months is going to be really stressful at work and I am really worried that my baby will be alright. I am off from work today...I needed a mental health day so right now I feel ok but the thought of going back on Monday makes me stressed out

I hated it when DOH would come around (I did my MSW internship at Mather Hospital and a nursing home)...things were very very very stressful during those times, but I wasn't pregnant.
Stress absolutely affects your body, pregnant or not. Try to get a little more sleep, and don't skip meals. All you can do is try and take care of yourself as much as possible, and vent to us, we are here for you

I have a very hard time not stressing out, and i worry about it a lot. This is a very stressful time of year for me at work, too. I just really need to remind myself that the baby feels all of this stress and pressure and that I need to let it go. It doesn't always help, but I try.

Re: Does anybody worry about stress while being pg?
I am trying very hard to remain calm and not stress out but with summer coming fast and a staff that only has half a brain all together, it's very hard. Not to mention DH wants to transfer to CT right after the baby is born and I've never lived anywhere else!
It scares me, I know the baby feels what I do and I don't want a stressed out baby and I don't want to put either one of us in any danger.

I feel the same way. I've been stressed out this week and, on top of it, have not been able to sleep. Stress effects us definitely- it really stinks- on top of feeling stressed, being scared about the baby!

You want to talk about stress! I just got laid off from my job this week! It's long story but, anyway I was a reck for two days and thank God my DH and I are going to Hawaii for the next two weeks. Anyway, I do have a job lined up and we will see what happens when I get back. So now, I have finally decided to relax because this job I have lined up is less hours and will make me happier.

Re: Does anybody worry about stress while being pg?
I completely understand. I stressed out alot as well with my job.
Try and leave all of work behind you when you leave the door. It's easier said than done... but just try to invision leaving it all behind when you leave that door.
Also something I did that helped was to make sure that I made time each week for myself. Go for mani and a pedi, or pre-natal massage... try to do at least one of these- once a week. I go to a chiropractor and look forward to that as well as a 1/2 hour of stress relief.
Also get DH involved... have him pamper you with a foot rub... just to get your mind off things.
Relaxing is soooo important! It's something we sometimes have to learn how to do... and it's something I had to learn!!

Re: Does anybody worry about stress while being pg?
I have so much to worry and stress over, I think I hit overload and now i am officially numb.
We are moving to NC. Leaving our jobs...so in 4 weeks I will be car hunting, job hunting, moving, dr hunting, hospital hunting, house hunting...the move was are plan forever. I knew it would be a crazy time, but add on DH's workload plus finals, plus my mother acting like a nut since I am moving. And I am the laziest that I have ever been in life.
I cried for the first time at work yesterday. It was no one's fault. I got sick on the bus and sick at work. I did not want to answer a phone or do a thing, so I cried...hard. I wasn't even embaressed. Just try and take it day by day.
