Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
I hardly ever buy toys for Megan unless its Christmas, her birthday or Easter.
I was just wondering if I am the only one who does this?
I want to get her a new baby doll carriage, tea set and a new barbie doll. I already bought her candyland.
Does anyone else do this?

Usually no, just small things that fit in a basket but she has been asking for a Tinkerbell costume for a really long time so I got that for her.

Re: Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
I originally wasn't going to do an Easter basket b/c it's not really part of the Greek Orthodox tradition, but then I figured.... My mom did it for us while we were growing up, so why should my daughter be 'jipped'.
I bought her a basket w/a stuffed bunny in a raincoat, 2 easter themed books, one book that is "what is Easter" which I was VERY happy about b/c it tells the TRUE meaning of what we are celebrating during Easter, 2 bags of the Gerber dried fruits, and the Mary Poppins DVD.
What is Easter?
I just wanted to share a pic and link to this book... I'm so utterly pleased by it - I think that I'm going to be breaking this book out annually to read to her to relay the importance of why we celebrate Easter.

Re: Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
I've been going back and forth on this. This year I don't think I will, but I don't really feel that I have to. My mom did - and she asked me what to get so she bought everything that I would have.
She gave DD crayons, those toddler markers, a few Easter books, a doll, a little people set and she made her a sweater for the spring. Oh, and a chocolate bunny that probably won't find it's way into DD's hands.

Re: Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
Since DS is only 1 he is not getting any candy. I filled up his basket with a Sesame Street DVD, some books, and a stuffed baby chick. Then, I am going to wrap up some gifts I wanted to give him for his birthday but didn't because of all the gifts he got from family and friends (two little people sets).
I think in the future it will be some small gifts and a chocolate bunny. Everything in moderation, I guess!

Small things, because I want to give him a basket, but don't want to fill it with candy.
Also, his birthday is in November, and at this age, he can use some more age-appropriate things to play with. I don't want to wait until his birthday to buy him some new stuff.

This is what we do. They have pretty substantial baskets though.. stuffed with all sorts of things. I generally don't do any one thing that is too 'big' - just lots of little stuff.
When I have something that I desperately want to give the kids, I will usually make up a contest of some sort and have it as the 'surprise' if they do well. For example.. I challenged Robbie to memorize his 7x tables and if he was able to do it (he'd been having a challenge) - I'd give him a prize. He learned them, passed my drill and got the book I'd been dying to give him. Noah memorized 15 of his site words and passed his drill and was rewarded with a Hulk coloring book that I found and wanted to give to him really badly!

He is getting stuff that will fit into a basket, but my parents are giving a bigger gift.
When he gets older he might get more. I usually got a gift plus the basket.

Re: Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
This is hard for me, because i love to do a nice basket but I dont want holidays to be about gifts, even Birthdays....
So I needed him to have a few new things to help occupy his time ( puzzles, Mr Potato head) and bought those for Easter.. Those are things normally I would consider way too much for an Eatser basket...IT just happens to be something I need him to have.
I think most times he will simply get small little toys, gizmos etc.

Re: Does anyone buy gifts for their kids for Easter?
I do, just small things to go in their Easter baskets. DD got some bubbles, crayons, coloring books, hair clips, etc. and DS got some cars, some Sponge Bob stuff and some stuff for his baseball and soccer games.
