My company is so small that when my boss is out of the office I can barely make time to go to the bathroom. I have to stay glued to my desk.

Yeah, our guys go golfing while we have to stay and work.

We keep saying we're going to have an Administrative Assistant's Golf Outing and leave all their butts at the office! See how they like it!

Actually, I've seen WAY worse than that. The secretaries for the Pres, VP and Treasurer were taken on a trip to Las Vegas and given a SPA DAY. And they were paid their salaries while they were there, all under the guise of a conference. Chat Icon

I wish I could stay home when my boss is out! When he's not around, I have to be on my best behavior because of his "spy network". Chat Icon

Oh this sounds SO similar to me!

My boss travels a LOT - he's out of town more than he's in. But its those days when my boss is out that he NEVER will "approve" for me take a day off.. I cannot even leave early! I have to even try planning my vacation around his time off.. of course if I'm out sick , what can you do .. but he gets very testy!

he is a control freak and totally thinks something is going to go down while he's away, or someone will need to reach him, or someone will break into his office Chat Icon Meanwhile NOTHING ever happens and I sit here twidiling my thumbs and coverin everyone else!!

And my guy is very high level.. I work for the Chariman of the deparment (lawfirm) but yet I never get those perks that some assistants do.. Chat Icon

I love it when a banker tries to be nice, and says hey you can get out of here(insert his aren't I nice smile) and he has no clue that you just can't get up and go. Unless the others on the bank say okay, then I am in the elevator right after his.

I can totally relate, I get no perks either

My favorite is 4:45pm on a friday of a holiday and he thinks it's a big deal to say leave early

Yes, this used to be a rampant problem with the secretaries at my job. If their bosses were out, they were out -- and NOT charging the time, mind you.

Then punching in/out was instituted and the problem is now almost non-existent.
