Does anyone else enjoy living in an apartment?

I know this may sound crazy but we lived in a 900 sq ft. apartment that had a great layout and purchased house right before we got married. We are actually selling our house and going to move back to an apartment and I am really excited. We will have a yard so DS with have room to play but I feel like we have such a big house and only a part of it gets used and all gets cleaned and it just seems like a waste so I was curious if anyone else feels the same way.

Everyone thought I was crazy for saying the same thing. I'd much rather own a condo or townhome. Renting would not be an option for me.

wow! just wow! that's the first time I have heard anyone say that.

DH and I are in an apt right now (about 800 sq ft but only 1 bedroom) and we love the complex and what it has to offer. but I have to be honest, if we could, we would have been out of here and in a house a long time ago.

I like living in my apartment but I don't like renting. If I owned a condo then it would be much better.

i like my apartment, but don't like giving my rent money to my landlord every month. I think I'd be happier knowing that my mortgage payment, which in our case would be approx. the same as my rent, was building equity.

My ideal situation would be to live in a gated community with amenities - where they have a pool, clubhouse, gym etc. but that you have a house.... I like the facilities that apartment complexes and condo's have, but I would like a little bit of distance from my neighbors!

I do hear you on cleaning the WHOLE house when you only use a couple of rooms! I hate that too.

I love the fact that the place is small enough that cleaning isn't TOO big a deal. However we need more space and so I can't wait until we can buy a house.

If I could find a big enough place that had closet space, good sized rooms, eat in kitchen, and use of a pool, washer/dryer, backyard and was the right price Id definately consider it over owning.

But it owuld have to be considerably cheaper then owning a house.

I have a great apartment, with a great layout, doorman, pool and private beach

as much as I like it- I woud rather be in a house- this is our last year renting

I dont know the sq footage but DH and I live in a huge 2BR apt with a DR. We love the fact that we have so much room. The only thing that we arent too keen on is the W/D and lack of a backyard. We had a long talk last night and we decided there is no way we could handle having a house right now. Besides the money factor, we would not be able to deal with the upkeep and the potential problems that would be our problems, not a landlords! So yes we enjoy where we are very much.

Currently we're in a FABULOUS apt. I think it's 1,200 sq ft. It's huge. We're in a two family home...we have use of the entire attic. Our bedroom is gigantic, HUGE walk-in closet, LR DR, huge kitchen...you name it. Not to mention it's in the neighborhood we hope to buy someday. To us..it's ideal. Our apt is bigger than most houses. Our only option to buy right now would be in a neighborhood we are not interested in with a lot less space. It just makes perfect sense for us to rent.
Don't get me wrong though...once we can afford to buy in our neighborhood...we're buying!

ETA: We have 2 bedrooms, Full EIK, LR, DR, Attic, huge bedroom, huge walk-in closet, large full bathroom, deck, washing machine, dish washer....

I did enjoy the apartment but having a house with a fenced yard and deck is WAY better IMO

My sister did that. I am SO not ready for a house, but I could definitely live with a bigger apartment. But that's Manhattan for ya.

I loved our last apartment. Almost 1k sq ft, fireplace, great location, less than 20 min comute to work, use of washer/dryer, use of yard, attic storage. Have a lot of great memories...but was SO happy to be in our house. I love it to pieces and can't believe it took so long to get into it!

Maybe if I lived in a bigger apartment that wasn't in a big city I'd enjoy it.

I love my apartment, especially my little terrace, and my neighborhood. I really enjoy living close to public transportation and not needing a car to go anywhere. But I still want a house. Even with just two of us, we have outgrown this place. (plus my new neighbors blow.)

Before I bought my condo I lived in a great apt. Like the others I just wanted to own a place, but I loved how new everything was in the apt! I really enjoyed living there.

Not only do I like living in my apt- i LIKE RENTING.

I think i have a great deal- much less than any mortgage- I don't have to worry when things break and I can save money and not live paycheck to paycheck or be stretched too thin.

I love my apartment. It ha 2 bedrooms, big back yard. Unfortunately it is getting a bit too cramped in here especialy since the baby is coming. I don not like renting. The money is going towards nothing. I would much rather pay a mortgage.

I think if we weren't paying so much rent for such a small space - $1500 for about 600 sq. ft - I wouldn't mind so much.
I also probably wouldn't mind it so much if the upstairs neighbors didn't make so much noise, if the landlords would fix the bathroom ceiling right, and there was some place to throw out our garbage

I just really want to live in a house so we can do things our way.

We have a house right now, but realize that there is so much of it that doesn't get used. Also, we do not really like all the maintenance and upkeep. We are considering selling and buying a condo or townhouse.
