Does anyone else hate getting phone calls during the day??

With a baby that barely sleeps and when she does-- I gotta get a ton of crap done, eat and whatever else in a very small amount of time... I just hate it when my phone rings and I hate answering it. Inevitably the second I sit down for the mere 5/10 mins of quiet time I get, the phone rings and the last thing I want to do is talk to someone- I don't care who it is. Or, it's at exactly the times I am feeding or bathing Sasha or putting her down for a nap or bed. I tell everyone call after 7 30 because otherwise I cannot talk-- yet no one listens to me, and these are people who know her schedule, including DH!

I guess maybe not many can relate because it's mostly related to the fact that Sasha takes such short naps (when she naps, especially lately)...or maybe I am just incredibly particular, which I know I am anyway.

I guess I am just venting.

No, I agree, but I take it one step further -- I feel there is NO good time for anyone to call me anymore.

Can't call in the AM because i'm running around trying to get both boys fed, dressed, get the day started, eat my own bfast, feed the dog, etc.

During the middle of the day, their sleep patterns aren't overlapping yet so when one is sleeping I try to get as much done as I can (start dinner, clean the house, check e-mail, laundry, bills, etc.)

In the evening, it's family time with DH when he gets home. Dinner as a family, tubby time, then bedtime with stories and songs. No way in H3LL I'm answering the phone to disrupt that special time.

Then after the boys are in bed, its my chance to have some adult conversation with DH and if the phone rings and wakes up one of the boys, I'm angry at the person who calls.

I feel like I'm alienating my friends and family, but I can't help it...

I take my phone off the hook when she's napping I had my MIL babysitting one day and she didn't take it off the hook when I told her to, and my grandmother ended up calling and when MIL answered and told her Chels was sleeping my grandmother yelled at her and said, well then why didn't you take the phone off the hook..she knows

I only have one ringer on-- but i need t leave it on because my buzzer is connected to it, so if I get a delivery (basically every day), I need to buzz them in, etc. It's not the noise-- but, even if I hear the machine go off-- I am going to be compelled to pick it up!

And of course there is always an off chance you are getting an important call.

Sometimes I really just want to go live on an island. I guess I am a little kermudgeon-y. (sp?)

I hate getting phone calls ever. But yes, especially when he's napping. I love my friends but really, don't want to talk to them on the phone. And if you're not my friend and not a family member in dire need of something right then and there, then I want nothing to do with you, calling or otherwise. I'm curmudgeony too.

ITA with you. I think those with young kids can all relate and hate when the phone rings. DS also takes short naps during the day & during those 30 min, I have to quickly eat, brush my teeth (forget showering) wash bottles, remake bottles, do baby's laundry. When he is awake, he isn't the type of baby that can just sit there bu himself. He likes to be held if he is awake, which doesn't let me do anything.

The most annoying person is DH's childhood friend. She will call me one day to see how we are & I always ignore the call b/c she is annoying, i'll call her back quickly in the PM just to be nice. Then the next day, she will have her mother call just to see how we are.. um, your daughter just called me so ask her. Of course, I ignore the mother's call as well & usually not call her back.. then DH's friend will call again the next day & I'll have DH call her back b/c I just can't... People think we are just hanging out/ playing all day.

I keep only one ringer on in the house. It's in the den - away from DC's room, and mine!

If I'm up and able to talk, I'll answer the phone. If not - that's what voicemail is for!

I never answer the phone or the door for that matter! Just when I sit down for 5 minutes of peace, its inevitable, the phone rings. The worst is in the evevnings, when everyone is in bed and I'm actually not at work that night and right as my butt is about to settle in on the couch, ring ring. UGH.

I put my home phone on silent and cell phone on vibrate when my DC are napping. The only person I talk to during this time is my DH for a couple of minutes.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Those precious moments of down time I do not want to spend "on". I leave one ringer on just so I could hear it, but I usually let it ring if I don't want to answer it (which is very often).

I always feel curmudgeonly too...

YES!!! I've resorted to taking the phone off the hook, otherwise I'd answer and be a total b*tch to whomever called, I practically ripped the Capital One guys head off when he called during DS's nap the other day, I'm sure they won't be calling again!

Yes, we just changed our number and didn't tell anyone other than our parents the new one.

I feel exactly the SAME WAY. I have two babies and am always doing something ontop of trying to take care of myself (eat, go to the bathroom, shower, etc). I only answer the phone if it's three people..my parents, dh, and BFF...that's really it!! Everyone else gets the answering machine.
