Does anyone else have a Kosher home?
DH and I keep (mostly) Kosher in our home. Separate dishes, pots, utensils, etc., and we only buy Kosher meat. My current issue is that I'm trying to cook more and cut back on the going out in order to save money, but Kosher meat is so expensive, and the more I cook, the faster I go through it and the more I have to buy! I try to make dairy dinner sometimes, but I don't have too many great well-balanced ideas.
Does anyone who keeps Kosher have any good ideas/recipes for trying to balance keeping kosher, saving money, and eating relatively healthy meals?
Also, for anyone in the Bellmore/Merrick/Wantagh area, where do you buy your Kosher meat? I know my MIL uses the Kosher Meat Farm in Cherrywood shopping center.
TIA!

We're not Jewish, but I'm a fairway (in plainview) addict. They have a decent kosher meat section (along with kosher dairy, and other foods). Of course it costs a little more than the regular meat, but it isn't that much more expensive.... you may want to investigate it...
it's far from you, but not as far as it is from me

I don't keep Kosher, but I know there is a nice Kosher Butcher in Merrick next to the American Eagle Outfitters (That used to be CVS) I am not sure of what the shopping centre is called. If I kept Kosher, I would probably eat Veggie a lot to keep my costs down.

Re: Does anyone else have a Kosher home?
I grew up in a Kosher home, my parents used to buy from Nassau Kosher, in East Meadow, in the shopping center with Dollar Tree across from the Apollo diner . Also, they would go to a Kosher butcher in Queens right off the LIE on the border of Great Neck. I have also seen Frozen chicken in BJ's that is Empire. HTH
