does anyone else have Aflac? I'm not happy right now
i'm so disappointed. I've been paying for a 3 month benefit through AFlac. I found out today, that if you have a natural birth, they will only pay for 8 weeks unless the doctor tells you that you need to be out for longer. I am so p-oed over this. Here i am thinking that since i'm paying for this, that i'll get 12 weeks at home with my monthly benefit amount.. and nystate pays only 8 weeks also!
Has anyone heard anything different?

Actually I heard only 6wks for both Aflac and NYS for a v-birth. It's 8wks if you had a c/section.

No idea......but I am curious to know how much Aflac costs.......are you doing this as your own policy or is through work?

If it's disablility then that makes sense. You are no longer disabled so they don't have to pay for you to be home. The US maternity leave policies STINK!

I didn't even sign up for the disability policy b/c a pregnancy can't occur in the first 10 months of the policy.
Unfortunately, it sounds about right seeing as how you are only medically disabled, barring complications, for 6-8 weeks depending on the type of delivery you have [vaginal or c-section].

Re: does anyone else have Aflac? I'm not happy right now
my crappy company only paid 6 weeks for either type of delivery unless the dr determines that you are having complications in recovering....and the paperwork that has to be filled out is ridiculous! Luckily, I can continue to stay out up until DD's first bday, I just dont get paid after 6 weeks

Re: does anyone else have Aflac? I'm not happy right now
AFLAC doesnt determine the DBL time, It is actually NYS that determines the DBL period. The DBL period for a vaginal delivery is 6 wks and for a c-section is 8 weeks.
The 12 weeks is covered under FMLA, the leave portion of your time, which is totally separate from the DBL payment.
