Does anyone else have an emotional basket-case? Esp. involving end of school?
Let me preface by saying that I am a very emotional and sentimental person. I can cry very easily. I know exactly why my DD is the way she is...she's ME!
Last year when Pre-K ended, she cried on and off for at least two days because she was going to miss school and her teacher. The actual day that school ended she cried for over an hour straight.
Things were going well today; she woke up excited about Kindergarten graduation and the last day of school. I figured last year must have been a fluke...her teacher WAS special. But no... When we got home after the ceremony tonight, within minutes she was tearing up and all it took was a "What's wrong?" to make the flood gates O.P.E.N! Luckily, it was bedtime, so it didn't last for hours. But it was the same thing...she's going to miss school and her teachers.
I remember doing to same thing, but when I was a few years older...9, 10.
She's DEFINITELY one of those "old souls," but does anyone here also have an emotional basket case??

Erin I totally can relate w/ my DD. She's all me as well & a Cancer to boot. All last week she as asking how many more days of school left & how she was so excited for moving up (nursery school). Well yesterday was her big day & in the am I go to wake her & she says I don't want to go to school; I want to go to school forever. I then took her to her nanny's house & was sure I'd get a call about how she didn't want to go to school. Thankfully that didn't happen & she had a great moving up & Friendlys/presents afterwards.
Then last night she was asking when she can see her friends again & when will she see Ms. M...she got so upset when I told her she'd be in a new school.
She cries at the drop of a hat though & is just very sensitive. (Drives Daddy crazy)

My 5yo DS
Though it is in more of a nostalgia way (like me)....Though with graduation type things it definately does affect him...
Ever since he was liitle (as far back as a very small toddler) he has had a hardi time watching old home videos or even listening to "sad" songs !! He would suddenly just start start silently sobbing and if you asked him whats wrong he would burst into tears....
He is still like that to this day

DS is like this and he gets it from me.
I was a *mess* when I finished 1st grade and remember my mom talking to me that I would still see Mrs. Anderson next year etc.
I really involved DS is picking out teacher gifts and have been talking up how much fun summer is
Today is their last day and they know we are going out for a celebratory dinner/ ice cream
