does anyone elses 1yr old throw a tantrum when they dont get there way??

all of a sudden DD yells at me and throws a big fit when she doesnt get what she wants

she wants to feed herself with the spoon and when shes making a huge mess and i take it back to feed her she FLIPS OUT

Absolutely! DD is 15 months but if I tell her "no" it's the end of the world. She goes wild!

DD does too. I don't give in to her. The tantrum doesn't last long.

its totally nuts
she goes crazy yelling and flipping out and if you look at her she screams louder and bangs her feet on the floor

at least I am not alone

oh!! i totally didnt realize they could start throwing tantrums at 1!!! i thought this started at around 2 or so...

Oh yeah...DD stomps her feet and throws herself on the floor...she's just shy of 14 mos old.

I'm not sure I'd call it a tantrum, but she definitely gets loud and slam her hands down or on her own head. It usually happens when she want to feed herself or you tell her no.

LeighAnn I typically give Hannah her own spoon and let her dip it in whatever I'm feeding her - we take turns . Gives her a feeling of independence, some practice and less mess. Maybe try that if you haven't already.

Oh yes, DD has been doing it since she turned one and shows no signs of slowing down. She is 20 months now.

Jayden is only 9 months and starting to thrown tantrums.

Sabrina throws tantrums when we take things away from her. I agree about letting DC hold a spoon while you feed her. We have been doing that for a while. She eats best if she can hold something while we feed her.

My 19 month old is doing this now. We were playing the yard today and he doesn't understand the concept of taking turns obviously but it was my 3 1/2 year old's turn on the toy and he had a fit! He started pushing her and basically yelling like a banshee. WHen that didnt work, I get the waterworks and the Maaaaammaaaaa with the real tears. I feel for him bc he doesnt understand and most of the time, my older ones try to accomodate but they're still young too and don't always. He'll learn I guess. Forget it with saying No. The word and the tone of it send him into a round of weeping.

Yup, around a year it started- DD's almost 15 months now. If I won't pick her up when she wants to be picked up, she'll throw herself on the floor. Or if I'm trying to get her to do something and she doesn't want to, I'll pick her up but she squirms out of my arms and screams and cries on the floor. It's sooooo much fun!

I'm 39 & still do it.

Mine both did. It's hard when they can't express their feelings. Then when they learn how to & realize it doesn't matter that they can tell you they're angry, they're still not getting their own way, it's not any better.

I still wonder sometimes why I taught them to talk.

Yes! Hailey is 18 months and has been doing this for awhile. She even starting hitting and knocking things on the floor. She hasn't let me feed her since she was 10 months! Everything is a mess but 8 months later she is a pro with a spoon and fork. Hang in there.
