Does anyone else's 2 year old bite their nails??

Megan has now taken to biting her nails! I swear, I have never seen a 2 year old bite their nails. I was a huge nail biter but I tried to stop when she was born. Is this a nervous thing or normal? Anyone elses child do this? I dont want her to ruin her teeth but no matter what I do, she doesnt stop. Anyone??

My mom had to use stuff on my nails when I was younger. They sell a clear polish for the nails that tastes horrible and hopefully it is supposed to make you stop biting once you get the nasty taste in your mouth.

my son bit his nails and his toenails for like 2 years. started when he was maybe 2.5, continued until he was over 4. i asked my ped about it, but due to issues with hypoglycemia, and not having a huge repetoire of food, my ped said not to do anything about it. just ignore it and eventually he would stop. he was afriad if we tried to make him stop biting his nails he woud stop eating altogether and it was something we couldn't chance.

the one nice thing, he never bit them until they were bleeding and i didn't have to cut his nails at all for the entire time he bit them. LOL

but its true, one day i just noticed his fingernails were getting long and i had to start cutting them again. he's never bitten them since and he just turned 6.

My 3 year old is a nail biter, as am I and my father. It runs in the family! I hate it...but I refues to harp on about it like my mother did.

My 2 1/2 year old is also biting her nails. She does it absentmindedly and I don't think she even realizes she's doing it. It's driving me nuts & I keep telling her no hands in your mouth & the pediatrician told her to stop also. But the ped said not to actually use any products to stop it.
