does anyone elses dh/fh/bf get obsessed with video games?

He buys a new one and nothing can tear him away - he becomes totally oblivious to everything else going on around him.
I could be dancing around naked and he wouldn't notice.
Ok well, maybe he would notice that .

let me put it this way lauren...DH started playing at around 4pm when it was still light out...its now 8pm and pitch black outside...he has yet to remove his hands from the controller to turn on the lights. he's playing in the dark!!!!!

Yeah, I don't get it. If they play the game until they have finished it, then they have nothing to play, so why hurry up and finish something good (to them at least)?!?!?

DH knows the PS3 in and out and he swears "I only bought it so you could enjoy Bluerays". Mmhhhmm, that is why we have 20 games, all our photos in a slide show....

DH plays video games often...Madden 08' and Socom...it could be a lot worse, he could be at a bar getting hammered every night, I rather him playing video games

Yes! My DH has every game system. He does stop playing when I ask him to, but if I let him play, he will be on there for hours. I am just glad he doesn't like to watch sports.

I REFUSED to let a video game system into our apartment when we first moved in together- I never grew up around them and I didn't see the point of wasting hours away staring at the TV screen fighting imaginary creatures, warlocks, whatever. DH of course was upset, but he adjusted.
Now in our new home, he's got his own separate office and he's found a way to DOWNLOAD all his games onto his computer. So he went out a bought a controller and plays off his computer. I guess you can take the boy away from the game, but you can't take the game outta the boy

Now in our new home, he's got his own separate office and he's found a way to DOWNLOAD all his games onto his computer. So he went out a bought a controller and plays off his computer. I guess you can take the boy away from the game, but you can't take the game outta the boy

not a video game person at all - i have a PS2 and i'll get the new wrestling game when it comes out - but other than that, not really into all of that

i DO love classic arcade and have a sizable collection of classics on the computer - give me pac man anyday

yup...DH loves to play Halo....and now that he is unemployed I'm pretty sure he plays it all day long.
He is trying to convince me to let him buy the new Madden football game, but we could use that money for other things like FOOD!

No, thank god! He does the fantasy footbal/baseball, but I literally thank god every day that he is not a gamer.

Yep! He plays, however, NOT until DS is either napping or in bed for the night!
I need his help during the day and he is really good about it, Thank Goodness.

Once DS is sleeping (9PM the latest) he will be on XBox or the computer until at least 11PM.

In a word - YES!

My DH LOVES his Xbox. He's pretty good about it though. He tends to play when I am not home or when I am busy doing something else. If I come into the living room to sit with him he'll turn it off.

It used to bug me so much how into it he is, but it's his thing. It's really his only hobby so whatever makes him happy is fine with me!

I like video games and the best part is that I got my wife into the too. She will play a few XBOX 360 games with me. We also have an original xbox with a few hundred games on it that she can play as well. I don't play them every week or when I do it's not for too long. I am not one that gets so zoned into the games that I don't know what else is going on. I think it's a good hobby as long as a person isn't obsessed.

Same here! He's playing PS3 right now.

I figure it this way, DH is a wonderful husband, a hard worker, takes good care of himself (Health wise), doesn't do drugs, hardly drinks and hates watching sports. So if video games make him happy, why would I stop his happiness.
