But they still manage to go on 2-3 extravagent vacations a year

It does get annoying to hear them complain about how expensive everything is & how in debt they are. They never will have money because they always spend it. I wouldn't bother saying anything - nor would I do I feel sorry for them when they whine about finances.

not with vacations.... but with designer EVERYTHING... and the up to the minute wardrobe. i guess that the idea that, if they end up living out of a cardboard box, it will at least be a prada or gucci box,makes it somewhat comforting?

A lady at work is just like that!!! I mean she isn't going to be thrown out of her house or anything.......but ALWAYS complaining about the $ situation!!! But she goes to Vegas pretty much every year!!

Yes, and it is really annoying when one of them gets a "bonus" each year that is almost what I MAKE in a year!! And they can buy their new SUV in cash, but can't "afford" to give an appropriate wedding gift!!

YUP!!
It's not about how much a person makes but how much they spend versus what they earn.
My GF and her DH, who is always crying poverty, makes more than any of our other friends and spouses. She does not want children so that saves a lot there, but she is very high maintenance... does not cook, clean or doing anything around the house herself, and yes, is a clothes-horse and takes several vacations a year. If that's the lifestyle she wants then great, but then she really can't complain that she has no money
