Re: does anyone have a high ranch?

My in-laws have a hi-ranch in E. Setauket.

You walk into the house and it's a stairway to go up or down. Down to the left is the LR, and DR is on a l-shape. The kitchen is attached to the DR. There's a 1/2 bath next to the kitchen.

Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms to the right and 2 bedrooms to the left and the full bath is in the middle. Sometimes, one of the bedrooms to the left isn't a bedroom and is a den area.

However, I have found that there are different versions of hi-ranches. There are some that look like:
another version

my inlaws had the same one in E Setauket- too funny- but they kept the 1 bedroom open as a den

there are many difference versions-

Re: does anyone have a high ranch?

i'm asking because my grandfather owns a high ranch, and there's "talk" of him moving in with my parents. DH and i have been talking about buying the house, if that were to happen, to keep it in the family. it would need a LOT of work but it's on a great block, great piece of property. and of course, sentimental value.
when you walk in, you can go up or down. up the stairs - hallway to the left with a full bathroom and 3 bedrooms; kitchen sort of straight ahead; living room to the right, which attaches to the dining room (dining room also has a doorway into the kitchen). then down the stairs is a small laundry room, large den, extra room that you could use for storage or another bedroom; and another bathroom. just wondering how other people decorated houses of this style or similar. outside too. because like i said, this house would be in need.

Re: does anyone have a high ranch?

my album has pics in it -

ours is a high ranch - Like the girls posted above, its in East Setauket and all the high ranches there are different - mine has the kitchen, diningroom, living room, and bathroom downstairs, with all the beds and another bathroom upstairs - we have 4 bedrooms, but the 4th bedroom was originally the den (we are converting it back)

as soon as we are done moving in i'll post more pics

Re: does anyone have a high ranch?

I have an older hi-ranch built in 1962. We've been trying to fix it up for a long time. It has 4 bedrooms (3 up and 1 lower level) and 3 full baths. The lower level is half underground, so there is no acess to the outside from the lower level (just through the garage). There is a deck off the back of the house, you can get to it from the kitchen or through the french doors in the dining room.

The lower level has a utility room (laundry room with furnace and water heater), another bedroom and a fireplace. No pics, we are working on it now.

The front outside (the living room is the big window to the left; on the right are the window's to my kids room - above the garage):

My dining room. The kitchen is to the right of the dining room and I am standing in the living room:

We are starting work on the lower level. Ripping off old paneling and resheetrocking. Chat Icon But you get an idea of this area when you first come down the stairs. It was closed off with a door because the previous owner had a tenant. The garage door is the the left of the closet.

This is the living room when we first moved in. We got rid of the railing and built a wall instead.
