Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
but as far as "sneaking it in" I wouldn't try it.

Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
I have a standard dachshund but I'm not sure if that's even relevant in this post. There are some people here who have minis. MsMa is one.
Am I the only one with a full sized doctor?

Last I checked I had a full sized doctor also - How would a mini check if I had an ear infection... I guess he could stand on the table or a stool

Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
ets: please don't adopt a dog if you're not allowed to keep them in your apartment. if your dog is noisy and people complain you could end up being one of the people on the pets board that get flamed for not being able to keep their dog

Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
i definitely wouldn't try to sneak one in to your apartment if you're not allowed to have one. dachsunds especially can be noisy/yappy sometimes i think... so your neighbors would definitely know! yu don't want to get into a situation where you will have to find him another home or get kicked out of your apartment.... i would maybe wait until you get into another place that allows dogs...

Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
my sister has a minature dauschaund, he is yappy, and unsocial seems not to like people, however he is loyal and protective, and has the most adorable eyes. They rescued him when he was about 2 yrs so they do not know his history. He is short haired, black only 10 lbs, and he is very mooshy to the people he likes. I am not sure if it just him but trying to sneak him into a place wouldnt work. He barks a lot.
good luck!

Re: does anyone have a minature doctor?
they tend to be yappy. you'd be better off waiting or getting a fish or bird for now.

Re: does anyone have a minature dog?
I was afraid they were yappy- I think we should just wait - Jake wants a pet so badly and we can only have cats- and I am not a cat person
we are out of here in 9 months- he is just going to have to wait
thanks

Def do not "sneak" in a dog. It is illegal, you can get into big trouble and it isn't fair to the dog.
Please don't get a dog.

I would agree with this. Wait for the right time and place. You will all be better off

Re: does anyone have a minature dog?
i know you are waiting which is a good idea but i had to add that i have a mini dachshund and she is the greatest, sweetest dog ever! she is gentle, playful, loyal, protective and amazingly patient and sweet with children. i love this breed and know that there are some that can be unsocial and yappy but it's all in the training too. if you get it at a very young age then you have more control over it's temper. so if you are ever ready i highly recommend a mini D!

I definitely recommend Havanese. They are small, nonshedding, and hypoallergenic. Not to mention that they are sweet, intelligent, and totally loveable. When you get closer to looking for a dog, let me know if you are interested, I have a ton of info

I have to agree with this quote. I have a mini Daschund named Lulu. She was two months old when we got her. When I read the post above, I thought it described her to a T. I'd also not try to sneak in a dog. It's better that you wait. It's worth it for all of you. They are a big responsibility and a lot of work when they are puppies to train etc but sooo worth it. Best of luck !!

I love this breed, too but my dachshund has not been as easy as some of yours! This is my second dachshund. The first one was extremely shy. This one is very gregarious, super friendly and playful. He prefers to play rough and his strength is a shock to some people. He barks a lot but his bark is deep and not yappy. He is stubborn beyond belief. He steals things and becomes protective of them. He is great with kids but he steals their toys. We work with a trainer and progress is slow but we love our little Oscar.
