Re: does anyone have a mini doberman?
My BF has one... very yappy and hyper She's five or six years old and STILL not housebroken...she even goes in her crate (my mom had the same problem with hers and finally had to get rid of it) they have a tendency to get overweight if they don't get the proper exercise...
She is extremely lovable and sweet though...as was my mom's

Re: does anyone have a mini doberman?
they arent called mini dobermans though, they are called mini pinschers.
big difference because most ppl think they are a smaller version of a dobi but they are NOT. they are their own breed with similiar looks.
i have one. i love him TONS, he is my main man.
BUT i do not recomend them. he was so hard to housetrain. but beyond that he barks ALL the time. and they are LOUD barks, they sound like big dog barks, no one ever believes he is the one doing the barking.
he is very loyal and overprotective. he will protect you and your family if need be.
what else do you need to know about "the king of the toys"??

Jes! He's so cute! I wanna pinch his little pinscher face!!!!
Just curious... it looks like you didn't have his ears clipped... how come? I personally love a floppy ear on dogs, but I've never seen a mini without clipped ears...

Re: does anyone have a mini doberman?
my friend has two. She loves them. They do bark a lot and with a very high pitch sound. But they are very well behaved dogs.

thanks!
no i definatly did not have his ears cropped.
i think it is unbelievably cruel. not only that, i HATEthe look of cropped ears on a minpin.
it is becoming more popular to see minpins with floppy ears.
i love them, they are so soft, my fave thing(s) to play with.
its just totally unnecassary.
unless youre going to show your minpin, why bother? and even now, its becoming closer where they are allwoing uncropped ears in hte ring. i believe the UK already changed the rule!!!
his tail was already docked when i got him. apparently they do that as a young pup and theres no nerve endings in there or somehting. not sure how much of that i believe.
see, more MiniPins with floppy ears!
his ears do go up when he is alert.... almost like cropped, but not.
awww i certainly love my Lukin, but i tell everyone "he is my little azzhole"

Re: does anyone have a mini doberman?
he looks sweet!
as a fellow minpin owner.. would you recomend them??
all the ones i have met have been super high strung and crazy.
and i love that you have a dobie too! that was my original plan, but then we moved to the city and it wasnt really an option i still want one though!
also, how much does yours weigh?
Lukin has gained alot of weight since nuetereing him, but i think he is about 12 pounds maybe.
redheads was 24 pounds!!! she called him a "maxi pin"
eta: i agree, mine thinks he is huge too. he prefers to play with big dogs. and all. i think minpins are definatly the most common "big dogs in a little body"
hence the name king of the toys!

Re: does anyone have a mini doberman?
I absolutely loved my little Hans, but I would not recommend them. I was home all day when I rescued him, and he was never 100% trained. His bark was incredibly loud and very hard to keep him quiet. He also did not love being around other dogs... it took him a while to get used to the Pug when we rescued him.
BUT he was very sweet, total mush, protective (almost to a fault) and very very loving.
Mini Pins are not toy dobies. Mini Pins are actually the older of the two breeds. Dobies are bred up from the Mini Pins.
