Does anyone have a murphy bed?
I saw this on the TV show "moving up" and I think it would be perfect for our guest room b/c we dont have a lot of space. But, I can't seem to find anywhere on LI that sells them.

Re: Does anyone have a murphy bed?
my friend in the city had one in her studio apartment... I thought it was awesome, although I'm sure after having to "pull down her bed" every night she got annoyed. not sure if there's anyplace on LI that sells them b/c murphy beds are more of a NYC thing.

No, its the kind of bed that folds up into a cabinet. When it's folder it just looks like a hutch/cabinet type thing. We would use it in our guest room so we wouldnt have to pull it down every day.

Re: Does anyone have a murphy bed?
My IL's have one in my FIL's home office. Two of their daughters and their families live OOS so they need it when they come.
It's been there for years. It is part of a custom wall to wall cabinet unit my FIL designed (he's a kitchen designer).
I can ask him where you might get one but most are part of a larger wall unit or recessed into what looks like a closet.

I'm interested in getting one that looks like a wall unit when it is folded up. If you could get some info, I'd really appreciate it!

My Dh has installed a few and they are sooo nice. He used this company for the construction plans and built it himself.

I had one in my first NYC apartment. It looked like a wall until and was a great spacesaver.
The apt came fully furnsihed so I am not sure where they bought it.

Funny enough I know there is one in farmingdale...I used to work at Central DRIVE and we would get their mail all the time. (not sure if they are still there but its worth a shot). Good Luck.
