does anyone have a tea kettle that looks like this?
i just cant figure out how you are supposed to pour the water out of this thing. The only way that it seems you can do it is by lifting the black piece up over the spout.but most of the time i end up burning myself...am i doing something wrong ? Image Attachment(s):

Re: does anyone have a tea kettle that looks like this?
have you tried to just pour the water out without taken the black top off...it looks like there are holes on the front.
Try it with cold water first!

I was eyeballing that tea kettle a while back but ended up with this one for the exact reason you mentioned... I wanted something with a button or lever to open the spout

Re: does anyone have a tea kettle that looks like this?
You're not supposed to do it manually.
The weight combined with the angle of tipping the kettle foward slides the spout open.
I have one from Oxo that I got at BB&B and that's the way it works.
You'll get the hang of it.

Re: does anyone have a tea kettle that looks like this?
It doesn't work so well when there's nothing in the pot. Fill it up full and try it over the sink.
Also, since it's new, it probably needs to loosen up a little.
Good luck!

I have a similiar one, I think from Oxo...all you do is lift it up to pour and the spout opens..

yep, I have the same one. When you hold the handle and tip it to pour, it opens up automatically.
