Does anyone have a toenail fungus?

How do you know you had one?
How did you get it?
Who did you see to take care of it?
What cured it?

TIA!

no but my mom did. She went to the doctor and he prescribed all different types of med. My mom was treating it for over a year. Then we heard of a home remedy and that is put vicks vapor rub on your infected toes every night. With in a week it was cleared up!

DH had, so I only know some answers as he had it before we met

He went to the podiatrist and Lamisil cleared it up

I haven't had it but found some information for you....Chat Icon

1) Your nails will get yellowish and will deteriorate. It will also spread from your infected nails to the others.

2) You can get it from walking barefoot in pools, saunas, gym showers..that's why it's always a good idea to wear flip flops. You can also get it at saunas if they don't sterilize their equipment when you go for pedicures(I usually bring my own).

3) You can see your regular doctor, your podiatrist or a dermatologist.

4) There are plenty of OTC medications that will only provide temporary relief. So far the best in the market to clear up is a tablet drug called Lamisil. It's very expensive ($300+ for a month supply....it can be higher now). The treatment is for 3 months but every month you have to go for a blood test because it can damage your liver. They want to make sure the enzymes of your liver are not high and therefore do the blood tests.

Best of Luck and hope the information is helpful !!

ETA>>Most insurances cover this.

Thank you for all the replies. I also did some googling and saw the vicks remedy, the bleach remedy and tea tree oil. I'm all for trying a home remedy first!
