I want to try it; but can't justify spending that much money on it.

The ones I saw at Linens and Things, BBB, etc were 80-100 dollars.

Re: Does anyone have a turkey deep fryer?

MY BIL has one and it makes the BEST turkey! and the oil crisps the skin so it doesn't make the turkey oily like you might think.

I don't know which he has, but I'll ask. Don't forget you can use a 20% coupon!

Re: Does anyone have a turkey deep fryer?

my brother bought one and made one turkey with it - it came out great - and never made another. It has been in my mom's garage. I'll find out if he still plans on using it and if not, you can have it.

I heard the turkey's come out great!! My DH doesn't want me to get one because he is afraid of me burning up the backyard or something - but I think he would LOVE the way it comes out!

My BIL has one--I don't know the brand. The turkey comes out so tummy---but very different tasting from turkey in the oven. He makes a small one on Thanksgiving and we sort of eat it as an appetizer.

I am not a big fan of turkey on Thanksgiving, so I think I would like the fried one better...

I can't think of exactly what it tastes like but it is a totally different taste IMO. My Dh says is tastes like a version of roast pork you get from the chinese restaurant but don't ask me how he came up with that!!! lol

We have one - I will have to ask DH how much it was. We are deep frying our turkey this year since it came out so great last year.

Re: Does anyone have a turkey deep fryer?

I bet you find a ton of them on Craig's list after Thanksgiving.

The turkey tastes really good but its expensive to buy the peanut oil each time to cook it.

I make fondue bourguignonne all the time and I use peanut oil and it is soooo expensive - but the taste is like no other!

I'm pretty sure I saw one on sale at Kohl's or Target (can't remember) this week for $30.
I know nothing else about them though.

My uncle does. I don't know the brand, but we have been deep frying the turkey for a few years now and it comes out so good and juicy!

I would love to try that out. I would have to experiment before the actual day to make sure it was ok.

Be careful with those things - if you don't use them right you can burn your house down!!!

Re: Does anyone have a turkey deep fryer?

Ours was purchased at Walmart 4 years ago. I'm not sure what brand. We use ours about 3 times a year for turkey and 2 times a year for a crawfish boil.

*You don't have to buy new oil each time you can buy a small electric pump and you pump out the oil and place it back in the orginal containers and store it. I forgot who wrote above that you have to buy new each time (gosh, they must have such a pain getting rid of the oil each and every time and what a waste)

*And you totally won't burn your house down if you use it properly, keep your eye on it (it's not hard it's only about 2 1/2 minutes per lb) and don't overfill the oil and use it outside!!

Re: Does anyone have a turkey deep fryer?

For the past few years, we have been celebrating with people who deep fry the turkey. Everyone raves about it, yet I cannot even think about eating a turkey that has been deep fried!
