Does anyone have a TV in DC's room?
Andrew will only fall alseep if he is watching TV but it is always in our room. When we go to transfer him we have HUGE problems and he winds up just staying in our room.
I thought maybe if we try getting a small one and putting it in his room, this will work.
Did anyone do this and have success?

DS has a small flat-screen in his room....We always got into the dilemma with him wanting to watch "one more show" on the couch, so now we let him lay in his bed and he usually ends up falling asleep...If he doesn't we turn it off and my DH lays with him and he's out within seconds usually....

We do not believe in children having a TV in their room, so my children won't have TV's in their room.... We have a TV in our room and I hate that too  DH likes to fall asleep to the TV and I want total silence and darkness!

We have a TV in DD's room - it's high on the wall so she can't get to it. I have control of the remote -- for now!!
I love having a TV in her room.

CJ has a tv in his room (not that he really watches all that much) I like to put a DVD on when I need to jump in the shower etc.

We don't and don't plan on it until they are older. We don't allow TV after dinner. They watch a few shows while I make dinner and that's it. They don't seem to mind. After dinner, we play together, bath, books, bed!
It works for now

My SS got one when he was almost 7. Now for his 13th  bday, he just got a new flat screen. So my 3 1/2 yr old DD was asking for his old tv. After a long discussion with my DH, we decided that if she gives up her nightime binky, we let her have it. But there will be no cable hooked up, just to watch dvd's and she will have a 1/2 hour limit with the sleep timer set. But I don't think she plans on giving up the binky anytime soon - not even for a tv

We don't. I'm not against it or anything. They watch tv in our room a little bit before they go to sleep, but they don't need it to actually fall asleep. So when it's bedtime, they just go in their room. We'll see, maybe when they are a little older.

dd has a tv in her room, but there is no cable hooked up. She is only able to watch her dvds during rest time.

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback
I am going to go out and get a small one for him today and see how it goes. The no cable hook up thing is a good idea. Maybe I will try that at first and see if that is enough.
I think it is just a comfort thing for him. He doesn't even really watch it, not that I would care if he did. He goes up in our room and almost immediately falls asleep.

The only difference is DH hates the TV and I prefer it. I LOVE falling asleep to the TV. When our bedroom TV broke, he won, and it was never replaced. I had such a hard time falling asleep but eventually I learned to relax myself. I prefer my children to fall asleep like DH prefers.

We do not and will not. I saw how it had effects on my nephew. He was allowed to sleep w/ the TV and now, even at age 17 he "thinks" he can not go to sleep without having the TV on. I don't see the benefits of it.

same here..DS watches a little TV in the living room before bed then into his room to sleep. When he;s in elementary school, then maybe I will consider putting a TV in his room

I had one in 1st grade. It was just when I was sick or going to bed. And I am fine:)
I was the type and so was DH to never get one for him in his room but honestly things change and circumstances change. Unless you are faced with this challenge, it is really hard to say what you would do.
Sleep or no sleep?
I am a total TV fan so that also helped our decision. I think it has taught DS and DD so much and I am glad that it is there for them to learn from. Along with playing and school, etc.

My kids have portable DVD players in their rooms. They only use them at night before bed, or early in the morning if they wake up before me.
