Does anyone have an older cat?
Like, 14 + ?
Our cat is almost 17 and I swear she's getting more bizarre as she gets older, but not slowing down at all. The only thing that worries me is that she's vomiting almost once a day now, and it's usually a hairball. Does anyone have any food recommendations? Most of the "older" cat stuff is for 10+

Do you give your cat hairball prevention meds? You can buy them OTC at any pet store

Re: Does anyone have an older cat?
My cat is 16 and he has always been an oddball! He has started screaming more lately....especially late at night. He throws up at least once a week....but it's mostly because he eats his food too fast and it comes back.

Re: Does anyone have an older cat?
My cat is 13 and he throws up quite often. Sometimes it's a hairball and sometimes it's not.
And odd, yes he is pretty odd. I think it's old age.

Yes, I noticed this too. She just starts to howl for NO reason. At least she also starts to scream before she 1) vomits and 2) does #2 in the wrong place (ie, the carpet)

Lucy lets out a gutteral cry just after she eats. I was told she does this b/c of gas (she has stomach problems). It could be a reason for your cat - being that she vomits and goes outside of her box.
(Lucy is only 11 1/2 but is on medications for a stomach condition)

Try giving your cat a little margarine or butter every other day. Works for my cat!

Is it strange that my cat does it for no reason at all? He does have some trouble seeing, so I was thinking he might be doing it to get an idea of his surroundings (kind of like a bat), but other times I think he does it just to wake me up.....

Re: Does anyone have an older cat?
Last night was another fun night..she howled (while I followed her around with newspaper) until her hiding under the table let me know it was going to be diarrhea and not vomit. After she was done she ran around howling some more. It's so hard to watch. I'm going to try butter or margarine. She's DH's childhood cat and he's afraid but it may be time to take her to the vet again.

Re: Does anyone have an older cat?
Now we're cleaning up feces up off the floor everyday and we're also helping her clean herself after she goes which as you can guess, isn't easy. Thank god for Nature's Miracle for our rugs. We're at our wits end here.
