Does anyone have any feedback on Dr Palter?
I searched, but can't find anything too recent.
My GYN has suggested I see an endocrinologist for a probable-PCOS-related hormone imbalance...I hate feeling like this. I am not myself.
Thanks...

Hey Nic. First off!!! I have PCOS so if you end up having it- you know who to talk to (besides all of the other lovely ladies on this board!) Can I make a suggestion? See an RE, if you're planning on having kids someday. Get a good relationship going w/ someone now. I'm on my 8th - going to my 9th dr (and I'm not exaggerating) and personally have found REs to have a lot more knowledge on PCOS than a regular endo.. JMO. I knew more about PCOS than the few endocronologists that I saw--- and some of them really focus on the diabetes aspect possibility than the PCOS... If you post what town/area you live in, maybe some of the girls can give you some suggestions- or if you posted a few drs in your are that are in your insurance plan (if you have one). GL!!! ETA: I started going to my current RE over a year and a half before we got married- strictly for PCOS w/ the 'someday when we have kids' and that was fine w/ my RE. He treated me for just PCOS until we were ready TTC (which we tried for quite a while on our own before approaching him).

My sister used him and will never go back to him, he made her cry every time she went.

Re: Does anyone have any feedback on Dr Palter?
Hello there -
I go to him for asherman's (scar tissue after a D&C). He is rated one of the best surgeons for this particular issue so we are happy and confident with his expertise in that regard. However, his bedside manner is a bit lacking and while he has never made me cry he is not very warm and fuzzy either.
I am also not the best judge because I think at this point in my journey I am a bit numb to things so I kind of appreciate his no nonsense direct approach. I can tell you that his staff have been very nice and helpful to me through scheduling surgeries etc. I am not sure what we will do as far as next steps...and if that will include Dr P or not..for now all i can think about is getting me fixed!
You could always go for a consult and see how you feel. There are so many wonderful RE"s on the island that I am sure no matter who you end up with you will be in good hands. Best of luck!

Re: Does anyone have any feedback on Dr Palter?
Thank you
T, he IS an RE
And Shaye, thanks! I did some research and it seems he specializes in PCOS. I am not trying to make babies at the moment - I'm trying to get myself "better"...or at least under control. I'm having a lot of the skin-condition symptoms of PCOS.
I don't mind bedside manner - in fact, i usually appreciate straightforward facts. My Gyn is not aggressive at all and I feel like I'm going nowhere with them, so I'm looking for a RE.

Shorty not sure where you are but my friend goes to Dr Lobo (who is an RE) at Columbia for her PCOS. She is not trying yet but has been with him for years and LOVES him.. just thought I would pass that along as well..again you can always go and see how you feel.
