Does anyone have any remedies for chest congestion since we prego's can't take alot of medicine?
I have a cold, and have ALOT of congestion in my chest. It HURTS when I cough and although the coughs are productive, there are times when they aren't. I was told I could take Robitussin, but all that does is make me cough more. Is there anything else I can do?
I leave for Florida tomorrow and do not want to be coughing up a lung on the plane!!!!

Robitussin will make you cough more b/c it has an expectorant, which will try to bring up the phlegm from your lungs. A suppressant (to make you not cough) will only keep the phlegm in your lungs & you will be uncomfortable on the plane when the cabin pressure changes.

I also agree with the above poster....try hot tea with lemon. Maybe a Peppermint tea might help as well.....

maybe benedryl will help? I know that is safe to take, if nothing else you will sleep on the plane!

Try to put Cayanne pepper in tea or on any food you can. It always helps DH and I clear congestion.
