Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations in San Diego?
DH and I will be in San Diego for about a week. Are there any restaurants (casual and/or nice) in San Diego that you recommend? DH and I like most types of food, but I've had a real aversion to seafood recently. TIA.

DH went to San Diego a couple of years ago and ate dinner one night at this place in Cardiff-By-The-Sea - If I remember it was about a 20-30 minute drive from San Diego, but was soooooo worth it! You are literally right on the beach. The food was fantastic and the atomosphere was as well.

DH and I went to Georges on the Cove in La Jolla for our anniversary and we loved it!
We also love Taco Surf and Lahina for really laid back beach food!

The Beach House is great - on stormy nights the waves can crash right onto the windows. Also, FYI, the upstairs in a cheaper menu than the downstairs.
If you want a really nice place, you can't beat Betrand's at Mister A's on Banker's Hill. The flightplan of landing planes comes right by - and since it's on the roof and on a hill, you have a great vantage point of the skyline and airport. A dinner with wine will be in the $200 range though.
Other than that - explore the gaslamp district. You can find any cuisine that you might like. My faves in the gaslamp are:
Cafe Sevilla - Spanish MAX - steak Dussini - Moroccan/Middle Eastern
Ghiradelli - for ice cream!
If you want take out - Rubios is the best Mexican take out. In & Out is the best hamburger and french fries.
for a TGIF type place - Rock Bottom Brewery has a few locations around the city - great for different beers, etc.
Great breakfast - Harry's in La Jolla - closet to NY diner you will find. Ask for salsa on the side no matter what you get - nothing like you have ever tasted
Sushi on the Rock in La Jolla is one of the best sushi places I have ever eaten!
Donovans (Steak) and Cafe Japengo (asian fusion) are just outside La Jolla in UTC
I'll try to think of more, let me know if you have a specific type in mind.

A lot of those places look really good, especially the Spanish and Asian Fusion restaurants. Sushi is my absolute favorite thing, but sadly I can't eat it for a really long time. Thank you so much for your help.

We went to Il Fornaio in Del Mar a couple of weeks ago and requested a table by the window so we could watch the sunset as we ate.... great restaurant (Italian)
