Does anyone know anything about Stamford, CT...as far as living there??
We are looking into moving west/north of the city, but not too far. Does anyone know someone who lives there??
Any opinions about it??

My BIL works in Stamford. My SIL & BIL live in Darien, CT though which is the next town over.
They love it. It's a great town!

I have friends who live in Stamford and they love it. We've been to visit and it is really nice!

MRsPorkchop does live there (North of the city).
My brother lives north of stamford on High Ridge & they love it there. The taxes are more reasonable than westchester & he works in Stamford, so its ideal.

I'm in the beginning of looking into other areas. Just wanted to know if there were nice neighborhoods there.
When we get more into it I might FM those of you who have more info.

Stamford has nice sections and is more affordable than the sourrounding towns. However, if you can afford it, there are a lot of great towns near Stamford with excellent schools and a relatively short commute to NYC. For the most part, the public schools in Stamford aren't great.

I was just going to post the same thing. My SIL lives in Stamford. I understand the taxes are lower than LI and they have a lot of property. However, just yesterday, she was complaining to me about the public schools. She feels the high schools are over crowded and not that great. She's going to send her kids to private school or move when they get to high school.
