does anyone know anything about the East northport area?

are there good parts/bad parts? How are the schools ?

east northport is a very nice area - depending on where you live it could be northport-east northport sd or commack sd - both have great reputations though

I would not consider E NPT to have any bad areas. The only variation is that some parts have huge houses and some have smaller houses. There is a mix of old and new houses throughout the area.

I agree with the other posters.

There is a section of East Northport (south of Cuba Hill Rd and north of Jericho) that attend the Elwood SD as well. If you have your heart set on a certain district just becareful when you look.

Because of the presence of LIPA in Northport, the property taxes on the houses located in the Northport-East Northport SD are less than those in Commack and Elwood. I know people who live in all three districts and for the same house (same builder), same sized lot, those that live in the N-EN SD pay a lot less. Granted the downside is, the purchasing price of many of those houses in that district is higher, espcially if they are in Northport.

The area of East Northport that is probably the most afforable is the area East of Elwood Rd., south of Pulaski., west of Larkfield and north of Cuba Hill Rd. Many of the streets/avenues are numbered in that area. There are also some houses by the library that are fairly inexpensive but then you are closer to the train.

ETA: Northport SD and Commack are considered two of the tops in Suffolk county.

Like others have said, different parts of the town are in different school districts. The first house I lived in was in the Northport/E.Npt SD. When I was 5 we moved to where my parents still live which is also ENpt but in the Commack SD (where I went to school).
I know a bunch of people who have enpt addresses but are in the elwood sd. All three SDs are great, you can't go wrong with any of them. Elwood is a very small SD, so that might be something you want to consider.
Northern E.Npt has more of an "old town" feel, the houses are older and for the most part smaller.

my friend used to teach in the e. northport district and loved it. she was pleased with the school system. there's a large mix of kids there, which i think is great.

I was just looking at some houses on Mlsli and Coach.com. I found some really nice homes for reasonable prices, and lower taxes that I pay in levittown. One house had 5br and 3bathrooms, and an apartment on the lower level....and the taxes were $7700 with out star. That is awesome.
