Does Anyone Know Anything About These Pediatric Dentists? Dr. Michael Ioannou & Dr. Christos Ioannou?
I am a city teacher. I have UFT. These Dentists (they're brothers) are on my plan. Their office is in Commack and now one in Medford.
Anyone?

Yup...my son will be going to him.
I heard rave reviews about him. I went to high school with him and remember wy back then that he wanted to be a dentist! Oh and he's mighty easy on the eyes!

Thanks. I made an appt with his brother though, since I live in Medford and the new office is in my town. I surely hope he's as good/as nice:)

It could be a regular poster using a different name. Maybe her real screen name is her name and she doesn't want to be out in the open...I have no idea. I am not taking sides. Just my 2 cents...

Possibly. I know NOTHING about this dentist. My daughter just saw his brother for her first exam this past weekend. He was VERY nice. But after reading this post which I posted awhile ago I was just taken aback when I saw this reply to the thread today. Of course it has me and I am sure others now wondering:)
PS. A little part of me thought maybe ex childhood friend, girlfriend or a disgruntled employee:)

I agree one post is suspicious but if it were true, I could see myself Googling him for more info and responding to your post with my input.
I say proceed with caution. And obviously you would not leave your child alone with a dentist, a doctor, etc. (I'm still not over the nj ped who molested his patients)

While I have ZERO experience with this dentist, I had DS visit someone here in NJ that was on my plan. I noticed what the one post poster described at that office. I let them look at DSs teeth for his first visit. They told me that some of his teeth should come out. I said I wanted a second opinion and took him to my dentist, well the first dentist was full of it. DSs teeth were 100% fine. So while I don't know this dentist from a whole in the wall, it can happen. I reported the first dentist to my insurance company and they investigated and removed them from my plan.

most dentists prefer not to have the parent in the room bc the parent "acts" differently when they are present.. U are not alone with the dentist at all - there is always an assistant.. tbh when im seeing a child i usually ask the parent to leave the room or stay outside out of sight - 99% of the time the child is a different kid
that being said - i worked in an office that dr mike worked out of.. I never saw his work bc they were a seperate practice than us. were the kids crying all the time - yes -do i know why? Nope.
i do know he uses nitrous ALOT and iwth every patient.. again he is a pediatric dentist which would explain the nitrous
working in general dentistry we always see children and have rarely referred them to see a PD. I see no reason to go to a PD unless a child is very uncooperative
i would definitely take all opinions and research the dentist b4 going.

I was forwarded this from my cousin who knows that this is our childrens dentist....this bashing email is absurd! I know a gazillion families who use Dr. Mike Ioannou, and they are all very happy with him as their pediatric dentist. I was very impressed with how well he worked with my children, and my children do not like doctors;) -was never threatened,or told to leave the room....as a matter of fact Dr. Mike did the exam of my 3y/o dd with her on my lap in his chair!;) This is obviously a disgrunted 'someone'...that is for sure! You can ask any of his patients and I am sure they will agree;) He is great-you will love his interaction with your children, and in my opinion it is so important to have your childs first interaction with a dentist be a positive one! I am sure his brother is great also, just have never used him-as commack is closer to us. Good Luck;)

i have to say that dr. mike has been very very good to hannah and she is not the easiest kid to deal with. not only was he very gentle with her but he also worked out a payment plan for us since we dont have dental insurance. when she was injured in camp and was bleeding from her mouth they took her immediately and followed up with us routinely to make sure her teeth were okay. i have nothing but positive experiences with this office.
also we never had nitrous for hannah. and she never cried!

This post was written by my cousin, whose two daughters are his patients. I wanted to validate her post because it was her first ever...and I know that 1 post posters tend to draw suspicion. She created an account after seeing the bashing of Dr. Mike and wanted to share her positive experiences with him. In addition to my cousin, I've heard other other moms who were extremely satisfied with him and his silly, gentle and calming ways.

That bogus post above bashing this Dentist seems to know a lot of Dental knowledge! Makes me wonder if this person is a Dentist or other Dental Professional that is either jealous of this Dentist or feels threatened by their popularity.
I wouldn't believe a word that person says.

I don't care, maybe I am silly, but if I heard anything bad about a doc/dentist, I won't go there, especially when it came to my child. The second pro-Mike response was also by a poster with just 1 post.
I myself had a horrible experience as a child (as did my brother) with a dentist in Smithtown. It was terrible.
There is also a doc at MidSuffolk Pediatric that I refuse to let my son see, as he said horrible things to my brother when he was younger. Meanwhile, the my experience with the rest of the doctors have been great.
Not all doctors are good people, or have the best intentions. People tend to think of doctors as gods, but they aren't...they are people, and not all people are good.

As you know from our FMs I'm in the business. I have heard mixed reviews about him. A hygienist friend of mine commented to me how she didn't like how he treated his patients. She worked in the same practice with him for a little while. His practice seems to be doing very well though so that says something I would think. I wish I had more info for you
