Does anyone know anything about TIA's...Transient Ischemic Attack's?
Basically they are mini strokes and mom had 2 today. I received a call from her job that they had to call an ambulance because she lost the use of her left arm and left side of her face...she was also very dissoriantated It lasted about 5 minutes and happened again when the ambulance was there...lasted about 5 minutes again. It didn't happen again since then but she is now in the stroke center at Brookhaven Hospital.
Does anyone have any experience with this? If so did it lead to a larger stroke down the road.

My MIL used to have them they never lead to a stroke tho. She was diaonogioed a few short months before cancer took her life.. Good luck to your mom.

My dad had two of them. They are a WARNING SIGN.
He had a bigger one 6 mos later that was fatal.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but she needs to take this very seriously.

My mom had a few TIA's and didn't tell anyone that she was loosing feeling on her left side. She just said her hand hurt. About a month later she had a real stroke and was in the hospital and then rehab for 7 months. She still has trouble walking and now walks with a walker. She is only 64. Hopefully since she is in the hospital she will be monitored very closely. Strokes are very scary, GL to you mom.

My Aunt had 2 of them & she is ok but it is def a warning. I hope she is feeling better.

Thanks guys. It's so scary to think it could have been the real thing...thank god it wasn't!!!! I hate to think that it puts her in a higher risk for something that can be fatal.

they're definitely a warning that a stroke could come later; she needs to be watched very carefully. hope everything is ok
