Does anyone know how they determine if you have an ectopic

pregnancy?

I'm high risk due to some scarring in my tubes. How and when do they determine if its ectopic? bloodwork? u/s?


My doctor said to come in as soon as I get a + hpt, he was out of the office last week so I'm assuming will get to see him this week.

I did have my beta and progesterone checked on Friday @ 11dpo (23.5 Beta, 20 Prog)

I believe they have to do a sono. Bloodwork may be an indicator (if #'s are too low) but its not conclusive. They have to SEE where the egg is.

They will be able to tell with a sonogram when you go in. If all is where it should be in the uterus you will see a little black dot type looking thing. We called the baby "spot" after we saw the first sono.

I read an article that said if it is an ectopic pregnancy your HCG #s could be really high - way higher than normal. I'm sorry I cant link the article here, it was months ago that I read it.

Like evryone said, you will be able to determine from the sono.
