Does anyone know if this is legal?
My photography company is telling me that for every change I make now to my album (the album is digital, and has not been printed yet) that I will be charged $50 per change. I was NEVER made aware of this, even though he said that his assistant told me when I came in to see the first album. This did NOT happen, and she was the one that was suggesting many changes in the album. Since then, I have made I believe three changes (one was to the font of the front of the album---the front and back of the album were created after I had went in to see the initial album). Now I am asking for one more picture to be changed on the back of the book, and I got an email sayig that it will be $50. There is NOTHING in writing about these charges. Is this right?

This makes me so mad. My photography studio also does this- they try to nickel & dime you for everything. Stand your ground & insist that you were never told of this charge & it is not listed on your contract. Can you speak to the owner or manager?

Re: Does anyone know if this is legal?
If it is not in writing you can contest it. Is the photographer the owner/boss? If not ask to speak to the boss or threaten to report him to BBB.
The only way a verbal agreement can be binding is if the assistant phrased it in a question and you replied yes, that is okay/ I agree to that. If that did not occur it is not legally binding.
Sidenote: This guy and his assistant sound like pr!cks.
eta: I only have one semester of contract law done in school, but it was 3 months of cases like this. I can write a contract and fight one...thanks Prof.

Re: Does anyone know if this is legal?
that is insane if the album is not printed yet and it is digital they are making changes on a computer there is no need for the charge,
i made a few changes to pictures in my digital album and was never charged extra
eta is this charge in writing anywhere or was it just them telling you, i would keep insisting i was never told

Re: Does anyone know if this is legal?
It's actually standard procedure with most graphic design services. You submit the elements of what you want, they send back the first draft for review and you make corrections. After that, unless it's an error on their part (ie, didn't make one of the corrections, changed something else) then there are charges for subsequent changes.
If you're endlessly changing your mind it's a cost to them to be making change after change.

Re: Does anyone know if this is legal?
I dont want to post the name, because I really had a wonderful experience thus far. It is absolutely insane, there was NOTHING ever said about this until the last email that I received. I am not that type of person. I always pay what I have to, and never try to get out of anything, but the fact that I was not told is really making me angry.
