Does anyone know of a support group for moms who have lost children?
A very dear friend of the family (I call her my aunt) lost her husband at a young age. He was a police officer and was murdered, leaving her to raise her only son alone. After 30 years, she finally told us 2 years ago that the grief from losing her husband was lifting.
A few months ago her son died tragically, falling from a hotel balcony on a business trip
I can't imagine her pain and she is going through a really hard time. I was wondering if there are any special resources for her.

my uncle started a group at our church- St. Patrick's in Smithtown- he no longer lives on LI, but I know the group is still in tact.
He lost his son (my cousin) in a car accident -my cousin was 30 yrs old..he started the group to help others going through the same thing,

There is a support group like this...it's called Compassionate Friends. I don't know if they have any chapters in her area...maybe you can check it out on the web.
