Do a search. There are quite a number of ladies on here who have relocated to NC.

I have a lot of family who moved from Long Island, NY to Raleigh and Wake Forest. They aren't really near the water but I know there are a lot of Ne Yorkers there. I also hear of people moving to Charlotte. Good luck!

I am in Raleigh. We relocated here over 2 years ago and love it. There are A LOT of northerners here. We are about 3 hours from the ocean and 3 hours from the mountains. It is perfect!
Any questions, FM me.

If you want to live by the water, Wilmington is your best bet.
Raleigh is about 2 hours or so East from there.
ETA: There are a few lakes around Raleigh so you could have a house by one of them.

We were first going to move to Wake Forest last year but we waited and the prices went up. We then decided to look at the Charlotte area and now are relocating 40 minutes outside of there. LOTS of NYers there! FM me if you want info!

Mooresville, NC
It is a few minutes away from Lake Norman - its huge!!!
A friedn of mine relocated down there a year ago. She loves it. Homes are going up and selling quickly. Inexpensive and thriving with new businesses.
Iy is about 40 minuets from Charlotte.

Re: does anyone know of any places in north carolina...
Wilmington is the most popular area on the water, but the town is a bit seasonal between the college and the summer tourists. Honestly, while a lot of people love it, it's not one of my favorite parts of the state. (I'm not a beach person, so that probably has a lot to do with that...)
I lived in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, which is about 3.5 hours from the beach. I love the Raleigh area and the Charlotte area. You should really take a trip down and stay in a few different areas to get a feel for which parts you like best.
