Does anyone know of the program People to People International?
I just got a letter saying they would like to invite DD to join this group to study in Japan next summer. Any info would be appreciated. TIA

That sounds familiar. A high schooler I worked with may have been involved with this. He went to Australia. I will try and find out from him....

It sounds like the foreign exchange student program, but Im not sure. I know my high school has one.

I was invited to do this when I was younger, and in the end, did not do it. I would advise against the program, just as I would against some of the programs that bring young people down to DC for congressional meetings. They often have little supervision and the kids are allowed to run amok. Perhaps it's changed in the past 20 years, but I don't think it's a good use of your money for what your child will get in the end.

Thank you for your honest opinion. I am getting very mixed reviews. She is not a great student in school but is very into anime cartoons which come from Japan. SO i can see why she was nominated for it. I did reserve a seat at the meeting. heck it will not hurt to see what it is about, but yet i have my reservations

according to this site 24 kids from her high school went on this trip. so i will call the school to fine out what i can from them. plus i will call the number on the letter to see who nominated her
