Does anyone know the visitors policy at LIJ?
Or what the visiting hours are?
I know North Shore allows 4 people at at time from 11 to 8...just wondering if LIJ is the same.
Thanks!

Re: Does anyone know the visitors policy at LIJ?
Hmmm... I got a packet from them last week and I remember reading the visiting hours, but can't remember 100% what they said. I wanna say visiting hours are about 10 AM to 8 PM and they suggest no more than 4 at a time due to space and the baby being in the room, but I'm sure they won't yell at anyone or kick them out if there's too much. I mean... both mine and DH's family will be there right after I give birth and that's a lot more that 4. I'd love a private room, but I think LIJ is pricey

Re: Does anyone know the visitors policy at LIJ?
My cousin had her baby there, and I am as well.. It does say they recommend only 4.. I am sure that right after you deliver, they will allow more than 4... but I do know when we went to visit her, we had to get visitors passes to go into the room, and each room had only 4 passes. We kinda cheated the system. Everytime someone left they would take all of the passes with them and hand them off to those of us waiting outside.. so there were more than 4 at a time. no one yelled at us.. but she also had a private room. I know for the sake of my roommate, since I cannot afford a private room, I don't want to have more than 4 or so visitors at a time.. because if I have more, and she has more, thats a hell of a lot of people in one room!!! We shall see....

I just got my packet from NSP yesterday and they are associated with LIJ.. and mine says visiting hours are 12-2pm and 6-8pm and only 2 at a time. Only Spouse and Grandparents can come anytime during day.

Re: Does anyone know the visitors policy at LIJ?
Just looked it up:
On 3N (Maternity): Fathers may visit 7:00 A.M. - 11:00 P.M.
Private rooms may have 24-hour privileges.
General Visiting (limited to four visitors) 1:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M.
I know at NSUH they were VERY strict about the passes; I don't know if it's the same at LIJ though.

Re: Does anyone know the visitors policy at LIJ?
I just gave birth there a month ago. The visiting hours are from 1-8, but they will let your DH come earlier and stay later. He probably could've stayed that first night but both of us were exhausted so I kicked him out LOL.
I always had about 4 people bedside and people would just switch off if more visitors arrived.
Since I gave birth around midnight, the security guard was really cool and let my entire family sneak a quick peak at the baby as he was transferred down the hall from L&D to the nursery.
I opted not to spend the $$$ on the private room either. I am so glad because I was in and out of the hospital so very quickly.
I was in a 4-person room (I get the sense they put most people who have a healthy v-delivery in this set-up) but the room wasn't full until the last day when I was getting discharged.
The nurses and residents are absolutely amazing at LIJ as well.
