Does anyone know what would PREVENT someone from being able to get an epi.?
My biggest fear right now has become not being able to bear the pain of giving birth and being told I can't have an epidural. . . .
30 weeks and panic mode has begun . . . .

i don't know for sure - but if you are too far along by the time you ask for it (like you're 8 or 9 cm or something maybe).....or things progress VERY quickly....that would make the whole thing moot.

My SIL had back surgery, she cannot have an EPI, b/c Of that she has to have a C/S under general anesthesia b/c if the labor fails and she needs a C/S it becomes an Emergency or something like that, so she delivered my nices under general.
I think Back issues ( spinal scars etc) are typically why you cant get one.

When I got to the hospital I was almost 9cm but they still asked me if I wanted an epidural - maybe it depends on the hosptial?
