Does Anyone Own Investment Property?
Just curious - DH and I are always looking, and with the market turning like it is I was wondering was looking into this.

i wouldnt buy one here - i would buy it in an area where prices are going up.
if you plan on holding it for a while (5+ years) then I would consider it anywhere.

I think if we bought in another state - we may need a mgt. company to keep an eye on it.

We have some OOS and have thougth about LI, but with taxes and mortgage payments, it would be hard to justify the rent we'd need to break even

i would look into places like Richmond, VA suburbs, NC, etc. I have friends that live there and prices arent going down bc its so cheap to buy there already.

there are many markets that are experiencing huge growth right now. LI is not one of them.

My BIL & SIL own a townhouse in FL. They started out buying it to rent out, but decided it would be better to just keep it themselves and use it as a second home. My SIL & her boys just spent the entire summer there...going to Disney for them was like going to the park. It's in a gated community, so it's safe when they're not there.
DH & I are considering buying my home upstate.
ETA: I wouldn't necessarily consider our purchase investment property because if we do buy...I will never sell.

we own two peices of land investment properties. Both of which are going up constantly. We are OOS so the taxes are way cheaper, the land is on the high end for GA though. It's in a highend community, so the property prices are climbing higher each month. We got in at a great time and are selling at an even better time for here.
