does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
Ive been contemplating this forever now and since its been cold and i have to blow dry everyday and still cant wear my hair down cause it never comes out right. It never fully straightens- I could spend hours with the blow dryer. my hair is very healthy & very thick- Ive never really done much to it- it has really nice curls in the summer but in the winter I have to dry it cause of the weather and it looks like crap and I wear it back everyday. Im still unsure though will jps ruin my hair? Will it never be curly again? Will I regret it and never get my hair back? Any input?

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I have been straightening my hair for about 15 years...and japanese straightening for about 6 years. I love it and never turned back.
If you like your curls some of the time this process is not for you. Once you straighten your hair you will not get those curls back until it grows out. This process won't ruin your hair...however it will make it flatter, thinner to the eye and touch and straight...no curl unless you use a curling iron.
People with pretty curls I always say try a relaxer before this permanent process that will make your hair only straight!

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I did it last June (2006) and don't regret it. I loved it and was gonna do it again, but kind of missed my curls once in a while.
Right now, it s*cks b/c it is growing out so the top half gets frizzy, while the bottom half still just lays there. It's past my bra strap, and slightly layered around the face. So, just around where my ears are, there is a little dent (I don't have a straightener - keep meaning to get one) and I think with that it would be not too bad.
So, really the growing out is the only bad part. Otherwise, for almost a year, I didn't have to do anything to make my hair look smooth. I have been told you can curl it, but I was never able to do it myself.

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I have been getting it done for 5 and a half years
when my hair is air drying pin straight-I always think back to the days of me taking 45 minutes just to dry my hair
now I am out the door in 30 minutes!
best thing I ever did!

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I do now. When I first had it done it was great to just wash and go and not spend hours blow drying it and flat ironing it. After a few months I got sick of it and no matter what I did, it would never hold a curl. And I have super curly hair. I also had a lot of breakage that took a while to grow out. I will never do it again.

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
While I love the way my hair used to look blown out with a little flip to the ends or curled if I wanted.
I never had curly hair, it was frizzy, so JHS took that out and it dries great in no time.
That outweights the nice flip & fullness I used to have before JHS.
I can't wait to do it again next year, because I do not like the growth I have now....but have to wait until after my baby is born.

Ok,I dont regret it..... I just wouldnt do it again.
I missed my curly hair and the grow out process sucks. It was pin straight and very easy for the begininng but like the typical person I am, I get bored with the same style and missed my locks. I couldnt style my hair, it wouldnt hold any curl.

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I did. I mean it was awesome over the summer when we went on the boat all the time, but I wish I would have just put the money in my SEDU hair iron. It rocks. So now I wash it every few days, have one of those super absorbant towels, blow it dry and then use the SEDU and it lasts a few days.

Re: does anyone regret getting japanese straightening?
I don't regret it at all, I have absolutely no more frizz!!!! So what my hair won't hold a curl, the only time it bothers me is when I need an updo for a wedding. I will never go back to regular straightening, this is just way too easy to let go of!!
