Does anyone take off to go to the SPD parade?
I was thinking about this over the weekend when this was on the news constantly; I've never taken off because I was always working. While I have friends who are hard core parade people and live for this holiday, I just don't see the draw. Maybe I'm getting old? What say you?

I only take off and go when the weather is really good, I'm to old to freeze my arse off.

I used to meet people out for drinks after work which is what I think the big draw is anyway, but even now I feel too old for that. In Manhattan anyway. A friend posted last night on social media about all the drunk people walking around embarrassing themselves and he is one of the biggest party people I know and nothing bothers him.....

My stepdaughter and her friends are on their college spring break. They loved it. It's not for me.

Same here. I went every year in high school and college...now that I'm a decade out of college, I think I've attended it two or three times? And only when its a nice, warm day.
I used to march in it too...some years, it was so cold that I wanted to cry.

I went to college upstate and my friends and I joined the Gaelic Society for the sole purpose of taking the bus to NYC to march and hang at the parade  Not since then !

Does anyone take off to go to the SPD parade?
I have in the past. We go to the parade and then to a party afterwards. It's a fun day. We didn't go yesterday since it was too cold to bring the kids.

All girl Catholic school marching band.
We wore skirt uniforms.
Not fun.

I used to, waaay back when before children! We used to meet the family downtown for Mass at Old St. Patricks and breakfast, then head up for parade. It was more of a family thing than drink-til-your-green day.

Always take off. we usually March It was to cold for the kids for the parade so we just went to the party afterwards.
