Does anyone teach college courses?
what kind of education/qualifications required to be an adjunct professor? Any other info. you can give me would be helpful. You can FM if you prefer.
TIA!!!
ETA: I know a tenure track position required a PhD or at least to be in the process of it.
I have heard you do not need a Masters to be an adjunct or you can be in the process of your Masters. Any truth to that?

Re: Does anyone teach college courses?
I'm an adjunct online.
I have a master's - that's all I needed.
Some colleges want a certain amount of grad credits 12-18 in a particular area.
For example, my MS in secondary math ed. I only have 9 grad math credits.
A few colleges won't hire me because I don't have 15-18 credits in math and its not a math masters.

Re: Does anyone teach college courses?
How do you apply for to teach an online class. I have my Master's in Elementary Education and I just got certified in Special Ed Birth -2, 1-6, and 5-7.
I would love to make some extra money.
Any suggestions of where to apply?

I know you have been looking like crazy for a teaching job on LI, have you thought about being adjunct professor at a community college around here? I would imagine with your masters you would be applicable. I know it's not what you're looking for, but at least its a little money and teaching.

Thanks. I have thought of it awhile ago and applied everywhere. I don't have enough math grad credits for even Suffolk to accept me. I still apply everytime they are hiring though.

Re: Does anyone teach college courses?
For the local community colleges you need to have a Masters in the specific subject area. For example, you can't teach a math course with a Masters in Math Education... must be a MS in Mathematics.
Same for History, English, etc.
I am an adjunct professor of Syracuse University. I do not have a MS in Economics though so I can't teach Eco at SCCC or NCCC. I teach SU's Eco 203 course to high school students... co-enrollment.
