Does anyone work for an Airline? (or for those that have lost luggage before)
Just wanted to know your feedback in terms of lost luggage....this is the letter we wrote...it's not too nasty is it? Hopefully it'll be effective! _________________ To Whom It May Concern:
Upon completing Spirit’s required information for my missing luggage, I feel it necessary to state the following:
The loss of my luggage was due to the sheer negligence of Spirit Airlines employees at LaGuardia airport as I was departing, for what I hoped to be, a special vacation to Mexico. I had carefully packed a carry-on, specifically to avoid the tedious checking-in process.
As I was boarding my flight, a Spirit employee abruptly took my carry-on luggage from me due to the plane’s weight limit being at its capacity. I was given no time to unpack my valuables, necessary medication, or a spare set of clothes from my carry-on. I was told by the Spirit employee “if you do not give me your luggage now, neither you or your bag will be on the flight.” This was the last time I had seen my bag.
My “vacation” was a non-stop struggle with the Spirit Airline luggage department (attached is my mobile phone bill with the charges for calls relating to my lost luggage- charges I expect Spirit Airlines to compensate me for). I was told repeatedly from luggage claim representatives, that my bag was located and on its way to me at my hotel in Mexico. Consequently, I stayed in my hotel, awaiting luggage that never came.
When it was abundantly clear that my luggage was not found, I spent 2 hours in total, traveling to the nearest town with a clothing store (the taxi charges are listed in my addendum). Beforehand, I was embarrassingly turned away from our hotel’s dining area due to my improper dress (the lounge clothes I wore on the airplane).
As you will see, I have filled out the claim form with utmost honesty. So much so, that I have excluded a number of items (over $50), which were packed in the bag, but sadly I cannot find their proper proof of purchase. Also not listed on the claim form but in my addendum, is the loss of vintage jewelry and clothes passed down to me from my mother and grandmother. These items are extremely valuable and priceless at the same time. The loss of these precious items, have tormented me above all. If I were given an opportunity to unpack my carry-on before boarding the flight, these would be the first things I would have taken. For this reason alone, I hope my luggage can be located and returned to me.
The reason I reiterate my story is for the following reason: I have been deeply offended and shocked by the lack of professionalism Spirit Airlines has continuously shown to myself (and my family). I understand bags get misplaced everyday, but how Spirit treats their customers during such an occurrence has been downright shameful.
Included in this packet, please find my completed and notarized claim form with supporting proofs of purchase; receipts for items that were purchased abroad due to my missing luggage- needing repayment; and an addendum of other expenses related to the loss of my luggage- also needing reimbursement.
Sincerely,

I would send copies of this to everyone there. Eff customer service
this is a letter we wrote in addition to the absurd itemized list of "lsot" items we had to fill out - oh and this had to be NOTARIZED!

I'd send that right to the president of the airline with a cc to the Better Business Bureau. I'd also "accidently" have a post it on the back with Arnold Diaz's (or one of those Shame on You shows) info on it so they would think I was considering contacting them.

This was the last time I had seen my bag.
It sounds good, but I think this should read... That was the last time I saw my bag.
I hope that this brings some resolution to the situation. I had to go round and round with Delta over a ruined suitcase. We finally recieved a new bag. Good luck!!!

Spirit *****. I flew them once and it was one time too many. I had a three hour layover and spent most of the time getting my luggage, re-checking it and going through security all over again only because I happened to look at my ticket after the first flight and noticed the idiot at check in did not check my bag to the final destination, only to the layover destination. I shudder to think what would have happened if I didn't notice this.
Good luck getting your stuff back or reimbursed.
