Does anyone work in a school but not as a teacher or know
anything about working in a school in an administrative position?
I'm thinking of eventually trying to get into a school in an accounting/finance role. However I never see these positions posted on OLAS. So on the off chance that anyone knows here are my questions:
1) Are they civil service or resume type positions? I'm a cpa/mba so I'm not sure I'd go in at an entry level position, but if I had to start there to get school accounting experience (I have none) I wouldn't care
2) What kind of hours do these types of positions work? School hours? Do they have summers off? etc.

I don't know if they are civil service, but I have a friend who used to be the assistant to a superintendant at a LI school district. Her position was year round, because there was much to do during the times the kids and teachers were not in school.

I'm pretty sure they are Civil Service positions and you have to take the test.
My sister is an Account lerk at one of the school districts and I know there are CPA's at her job as well.

you may need a license from NYS (school building/district leader)? but I am not 100% sure
You might want to xpost this to the teachers board, they might know.

If you are thinking about assistant superintendent or director, you will need a NYS administrator's license. I'm pretty sure that Stony Brook has an online program for this.
I would imagine that you would want your District Leader License (as opposed to Building Leader)
