DS just turned 4 at the end of November. He currently is enrolled in a full day daycare/preschool program. DH and I decided that we would hold him back in September and he'll go to kindergarten the following September just 3 months shy of his 6th bday. We want to give him the extra year to mature socially and to be academically ready to do kindergarten. I just can't see him starting kindergarten in September. Also, our district has a Dec. 1st cut off date and his bday is Nov. 30th. I feel that putting him into kindergarten in Sept. would be putting him at a disadvantage compared to his classmates.
Today, his teacher questioned me about our plans for next year and thinks he may be able to hold his own in kindergarten in September. I do not want to send him to kindergarten at our local public school as I don't want him thinking he is being left back or seeing his friends move to 1st grade while he stays behind. KWIM?

I've heard great things about St. Pats. So now I'm considering sending him to St. Pats for kindergarten and then the following year having him do kindergarten at the public elementary school that he is supposed to attend.

Just wondering on any feedback?
