Does everyone NOT have an ultrasound at e/ visit?
Is it strange that my dr. gives an ultrasound/sono at every 4 week visit?
Actually I just read through their outline & its more like this:
8 wk 12 wk 20 wk 36 wk

Re: Does everyone NOT have an ultrasound at e/ visit?
Every dr. is different, but this is what I had:
an internal at 7 wks to see the status of the baby
A sono at 12 wks
A sono at 20 wks
I'm having another at about 26 wks....

I had internals every month until my 16 week apt. I've had sonos at about 13, 20 and 32 weeks. I had another sono at 36 but only because they were concerned about the baby's weight.

Some women (not average cases) get even more than that.
I'm high risk so I've had doctor's appt's every two weeks since conception and it will be ever week after week 28 or 30. In between the ultrascreens the doctor does a very quick sonogram just to make sure everything is still normal.
If a woman is young, good health and has not any a history of m/c or infertility it's not necessary to have them too often. Some doctors just do them in those cases to milk the insurance companies.

Insurance limits the number of sonos you can have, so no milking there!
I had IVF so my first few were more then normal but so far 5 w 6w 7w 9w 12w
I expect my echocardiogram to be at 18 weeks and then the level 2 at 20.

Re: Does everyone NOT have an ultrasound at e/ visit?
I had the following:
7wks; 11wks (I asked for it-wanted to make sure I was still pg-paranoid, I know); 13wks (ultrascreen)
I have another one scheduled for 19wks (the Level II).
At my other appointments, the DR just checked the heartbeat with a doppler.

I had one at 6 weeks to make sure all was well.
I have another at 12, 16 and then 20...not sure after that.
