Does everyones doctor meaure their belly?
If so, when did they start doing this? Im 23 weeks and they havent done it yet.

I don't remember when mine started but you can measure yourself. Just put a tape measure from the bottom of your stomach (where it folds when you sit) & stop at the top of your uterus (feel your upper stomach & you can feel it go from hard to soft).
I don't know if you can understand that but my midwife told me the number (in centimeters) is supposed to correspond to how many weeks you are.

this isn't exactly right - the fundal height measurement actually spans from your pubic bone up to the top of your uterus. you have to get all the way down there to the bone with the tape measure. if you measure from the bottom of your belly the measurement will fall short.
many docs use the fundal height measurement because it should correspond to how far along you are. the measurement is most accurate from about week 20 on, but some docs will do it before then too. if you're measuring small or big, your doc may want to do an ultrasound to evaluate the size of your baby and the volume of amniotic fluid. HTH

I understood what you meant....my measurement came out to be 24 weeks and I am 23 weeks today....wonder if that means Ill go early??? Im sure Im not an accurate measurer though so its probably about right.

Yes, I was measured at my last visit which was at 25 weeks. I was measuring 26, so maybe I'll be a November Mommy (with a due date of Dec. 1st, it's entirely possible).

In previous pregnancies this was done...but my last pregnancy they never did it...I had a couple of growth sonograms though so I guess they knew how big the baby was.
