Does language development affect sleep?
DD is FINALLY starting to say words other than Dada (she's 17 months.) In the last few weeks we went from only saying "dada" and "ut oh" to several other words (mama, mommy, daddy, up, hi, bye bye, out, on, off, help, apple, baby, and maybe a couple more I can't remember right now) and I notice her sleep is very restless at night (with several short periods of crying) and naps are almost non-existent.

I would say yes. Any milestone can affect sleep. My son used to sit up at night practicing saying my sister's name "Kat. Aunt Kat. Aunt Kat. Kat. Aunt."
