Does Lindenhurst have universal pre-k and birthdate question
My SIL lives in Lindy and seems to know nothing about the school district. Do they have universal pre-k? What is the birthdate for registration for K?
My niece is definitely far behind her peers, has a Fall birthdate and I am getting quite concerned.
I have suggested taking her for a speech evaluation because I'm sure they will evaluate her across the board when the speech deficits are identified- but SIL doesn't' want to discuss it. It is truly bothering me as I know early intervention is extremely important. (I'm a teacher!)
Does anyone have experience with the Lindenhurst school district?

Re: Does Lindenhurst have universal pre-k and birthdate question
There isn't universal pre-K but some kids can go to a pre-k at Just Kids by lottery. I think the lottery may have happened already but they have a wait list too.
Dec 1 is the cutoff date.
I highly encourage your SIL to get her child evaluated. DD has been getting services through CPSE for 2 years and will be all caught up for kindergarten. I'm happy to say she will not need any services in school because we addressed her issues early.

Re: Does Lindenhurst have universal pre-k and birthdate question
Thanks for the response- is Just Kids in one of the school buildings or is it a private site that Lindy pays for?
I will keep working on my SIL- there are four teachers in the family who have all voiced their concern- sometimes its just too hard for parents to admit there is a problem. After 14 years teaching special Ed I've had too many parents report that something happened in developmental progress at the age of five- coincidentally the year the school district became involved.
