Does or has anyone worked for SCORE academic learning centers?
If so, do you know how the assistant director position pays?? Thx.

I work for Kaplan (their sister company). If I have heard correctly, it doesn't pay very well. Maybe low $30s. Everyone starts as an assistant director there, so it's not as high of a position as it sounds.

I did a phone interview for this and I never went to the 2nd round even though I was accepted. It pays something like $33K and the hours kind of stink, but it's a good company, I can say that

I just had a phone interview this morning..I figured I would give it a shot, since I am having a hard time finding a teaching job..
Do you remember what the hours were like?

I did the ENTIRE interviewing thing with them, it was the most exhaustive processes I have ever experienced. First the phone interview, then they send you to the city for a 4-hour group interview. Then they call you again for another interview. Then they send you to a local score center where they watch you with the kids. Then they call you again. It was insane, I think I might have even left out a step. The pay was not good- low 30's like what soome were saying. Also, you would have to work weekends and nights AND you can't choose where you work. They could send you anywhere within a certain mile radius - so you could live in say, Huntington, and work somewhere in Brooklyn.

You're welcome. I don't know why I even went through the whole thing. The last time they called me, I think they were going to offer me a job, but I had had enough of them already. Always asking "so how do you think it went" blah blah. So before they even said anything else, I told them I wouldn't be persuing a job with them anymore, I had accepted a job elsewhere. (which wasn't true, but the job I was hoping for did call a few days later, thats where I am now!). They sounded all disappointed. I wanted to tell them how insane their interview proceess was - you would think I was going to be running some fortune 500 company with the interviewing they did! Why don't you try Huntington Learning Center, I also interviewed there and they offered me a job after 1 interview. I was just going to to that part time, so I am not sure how much the pay is for full time.

Yeah. That is a little crazy what you had to go through for low 30's...Honestly, I think I would rather substitute teach full time..

No problem. In their/our defense, SCORE is a great company to work for. It is owned by the Washington Post and the benefits are really good. It's just a better fit for someone who is just graduating from college or doesn't really need the salary.
I interviewed with Huntington Learning Centers and they didn't pay that well either (for an assistant director) and they also said you had to go wherever they send you (could be any one on Long Island).
Oh and at both SCORE and HLC, Assistant Director postions are really sales positions, so you will be doing more selling to parents then working with kids and also will be held to sales goals.
