does pediatrician see your baby in hospital after birth
meeting with a new pedi today. I really like this one on paper. just want to make sure I ask the right questions
But not sure, if this is typical or not, does the pedi visit the hospital after you deliver?

Yes usually the first day the baby is seen by the hospital pediatrician. The second day the ped you picked should come to the hospital to check on the baby as long as they are affiliated with the hospital. If they are not affiliated with the hospital then the hospital ped will see them the entire time you are there and you will see your ped when you come home with the baby

Yup! Our ped is not affiliated with the hospital in which I deliver so the hospital ped cared for DS when he was born, and it will be the same thing this time around. Then when we get home we will have an appointment with our regular ped.

As long as your ped is affiliated with where you deliver they will see the baby when they do rounds.
Otherwise, you would call as soon as you could after delivery and they will see you usually the day after you are released.
My ped is not affiliated with where I gave birth, but I called the next day and they had me bring DD in the morning after we came home from the hospital.

My ped. visited my DD soon after she was born and then came every single day I was in the hospital to check on her and make sure she was doing well.

My ped was called when DD was born and within a few hours saw her. They were affiliated with the hospital. They saw her everyday during rounds.

yes my ped comes twice, once right after baby is born and another within 24 hours of leaving.
