Does Sephora know when items items have been discontinued or not?

I went to Sephora yesterday to get my Lip Gloss from the Bare Escentuals line. It's called Foxy Brown. They appeared to only have the Buxom Lip Gloss - which is not what I was looking for.

Since I couldn't find it, I ask a sales girl and she had the BIGGEST attitude and tells me "whatever is there is what we have". So I decide to ask someone else, "has the regular lip gloss been discontinued?" and she tells me "yes".

I got back to work, looked on line and I found it on the Bare Escentuals website. I just found it weird that she would say it's been discontinued when it hasn't?

Maybe she meant discontinued as in, they aren't carrying it in Sephora anymore. Not that BE stopped producing it.
